Defying the Odds | Interview with Andresha DeBourg
Everyone needs a pick me up from time to time. Besides my family, inspiration is what keeps me going. It’s a form of hope. I love to hear the stories and accomplishments of fellow women in the industry. When life takes a toll on us it’s a great reminder to shine light on all the possibilities. I am very excited to start a new series at Ariella Faith to inspire others and myself while supporting an amazing group of thriving individuals.
Which brings me such pleasure to introduce our first interview with a fellow young mama making incredible moves in the fashion industry!
Name: Andresha DeBourg
Profession: Children’s Fashion Stylist
I am a mother of 2 beautiful children, age 4 and 7, currently living in New York City. Since the age of 10, I’ve had this need to create. From drawing pictures to designing clothes, or at least I thought I was designing! I am ambitious and I love to have fun, but fun to me is reading or watching “The devil wears Prada”. I would say I’m pretty much like any 26 year old, living life with an open mind.
How do you manage your career and motherhood?
My career and motherhood just align perfectly! My children love the fashion world and most times they get to tag along with me to work or they just happen to be one of my models. I get to style, they get to dress up, so It’s fun for everyone.
What is your daily routine?
5 days a week I send my children off to school unless they have a casting call to attend, which requires us to travel all over NYC! While they are in school I’m home, making plans, just working on my dreams.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I absolutely love Zara and Target. They have everything I need!
Any advise on how to be a successful working mom?
Firstly, never feel guilty or apologize for trying to provide the best life for your children. Also, as mothers we’re the first to get discouraged, feeling like our children hold us back at times. I would just say you have to work 10 times harder than you would usually if you didn’t have children. Being a mom, we sometimes get overlooked because others may feel as though we don’t have the time to focus on anything else but our children. It’s not at all true and we just have to show and prove. Remember that it does not matter how many life titles you may hold, you are still an individual and you deserves the best.
Do you have any upcoming projects? News? What can we expect?
I always have something new going on! Most times I can’t speak about it but as of right now I am excited to be collaborating with Puma!
